// 040 re-swoon, software & lucky days
ok so i've been picking up
placebo/garbage/faith yang live performances
off youtube since i chanced upon
better media converters so that i can
listen to / watch them on moss(ipod)
without much hassle
you've gotta love the people who can
actually sing live, but i don't want to
swooon like some broken record player,
so i'd stop at that.
--
meanwhile, Hodges from CSI apparantly
spread his 'lucky day' dust
over to this side of the world.
it's been one lucky tuesday, and then some
//

ELO - mr blue sky ok so it's spastic but damndamndamn smile-inducing.

Mr blue sky lyrics

// 039 this is the real deal.
so this is kinda ironic,
since i only know a handful of manic street preachers
but i think that they're one of the best alt/rock outfits.
it could be my predisposed penchant for words like
empty and hollow and hypocracy
(faith yang song lyrics are evidence)
//
empty souls (softer)//
empty souls (louder)Empty souls will leave their homes
To find a place where they're alone
Rattling memories and hollow bones
Leaves a taste so bitter and cold
For empty souls will stand alone
Shivering like black-eyed dogs
Waiting to be taken home
Where that is they only know--
doesn't really explain my apparent fondness
for nelly furtado.
//
nelly furtado does gnarls barkley's crazy(im sorry but she should have kicked charlotte church off stage)
// 038 classifications and stereotyping
finally shrugged of the IRK bug i caught though i'm
eternally irked by people who do a certain sort of stereotyping.
they look at you and say, you look like u like
music that is not of a 'high class',
for eg. you like punkish skiddish stuff.
and they insinuate your lack of taste.
and they go on to say that they like opera and shite
just cause they themselves are blind mindless followers,
that suffer from a certain elitist complex.
it's like eating cavier cause it's expensive.
rather than fully appreciating it's taste.
what poseurs.
i think we should classify these people into a category
just to stereotype the stereotypers.
maybe call them 'blind clones' or something.
on a sorta similar note,
avril lavigne is stereotyped as someone who appeals
to the teeny bopper types.
it's their preprogrammed stereotyping at work.
honestly, her new cd is not really my cuppa tea,
the record is punk and upbeat;
whereas i need a truckload of melancholy,
but i like some of her old stuff
new stuff :
//
runawayi could like this if done stripped down and acoustic.
//
keep holding onthe eragon theme song.
some not-as-publicized old songs sung live :

// 037 2 sarahs and 5 toris.
i think tt avril lavigne is a good remedy for anger,
though i don't think that her new single qualifies.

"tsj"
the superjesus kinda dissipates the fumes alittle.
ok this is not some cynical speak on my part.
it's just one of the best aussie bands out there.
ok so sarah's gone solo and they're defunct,
but aussie alt rock is pretty much up there with the best.
You'd try to be sure
But there's no safety in the meaning
If I'm right then it's more
Than just a temporary feeling
I don't know and now I don't care to keep it all alive
And if I say to you that I wanted to
You'd know that I lied
You could be right
Everybody calls me lonely
I was trying to say I'm only
Close enough to walk away
It kills me everyday-- everybody calls me lonely
//
the sarah mcleod then (with tsj)//
the sarah mcleod now(dl the tsj tracks off myspace )
i personally prefer her in the band.

(left to right : Santa, Clyde, Isabel, Tori, & Pip)
and then tori amos' new album due out in may
just leaves me perplexed.
so there are 5 strange toris on the album cover.
apparantly each character sings a couple of songs;
they each have their own blog and different tone of voice.
kinda reminds me of some dude in a movie
who had multiple personality disorder.
(but it was a pretty good thriller)
but tori is always quirky and that is her appeal.
along with the lyrics, the sound and the piano.
anyway, so far i'm liking 'bouncing of clouds' by "clyde".
out of the 4 or 5 prereleases scattered around the net.
It's not as heavy as it seems
Wrapped in metal
Wrapped in ivy
Painted in mint ice cream
We could bouncing off the top of this cloud
(I've put on my silver)i love happy tune meets slightly sinister & cynical lyrics;
her fragmented type of singing.
and pianos.
don't know why it reminds me abit of
empty souls by the manic street preachers.
//
tori amos @ myspace"Clyde, who draws from Persephone,
wears her emotional wounds on her sleeve, but remains idealistic.
She is looking at the effects of not being a whole person.
She is trying to figure out what she believes in and
she is dealing with having been disappointed in her life. "
//
'Clyde's' blogi'd like to know clyde to hear about her 'battle' scars.
better stop now before i get more perplexed.

// 036 procrastination & the spending bug.
so it's never a good sign when i start to
post here more frequently.
it means that i'm avoiding something more important
ie. ordering the damn laser cutterand escapism is always accompanied by a
sincere urge to shop.
so my hands are itching to get hold of one of these:
tracey bonhamblink the brightest
kinda like most of the songs i've heard though
i don't know if i'll get sick of it after a while
a perfect demonstration of an impulse buy?

depeche modeplaying the angel
hated the album (cept precious, of course) at first but
i'm liking more and more of the tracks on this album;
depeched mode songs really age like wine.

ministry of soundannual 2007
so this is probably the
most only current cd of the lot.
and the most expensive.
caught a glimpse of it at the 'that cd shop'
and i've been thinking about it ever since.
i think they play subliminal messages (ie. buy me buy me...)
under the blasting of their loungey chillout tracks.
though it pisses me of to hear albums like these (the ones i have)
played at lounges and clubs. heard the 04 annual at a certain
ryhmes with 'omo' and costes at f..ok too much info.
mos is pretty unpredictable
prolly will have a listen and see.
the aussie annual might be better.
